PM Vishwakarma Scheme 2026: Elevating India's Traditional Crafts
The PM Vishwakarma Scheme, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in September 2023 on Vishwakarma Jayanti, is a central sector scheme with a total outlay of Rs 13,000 crore for the period 2023-2028. The scheme aims to support traditional artisans and craftspeople across 18 identified family-based traditional trades including carpenter (Suthar), blacksmith (Lohar), potter (Kumhaar), tailor, barber (Naai), goldsmith (Sunar), mason (Raajmistri), sculptor (Moortikar), cobbler (Charmakar), basket maker, boat maker, armourer, locksmith, hammer and tool kit maker, fishing net maker, doll and toy maker, and washerman. Beneficiaries receive a PM Vishwakarma certificate and ID card, skill training with a Rs 500 per day stipend for 5-7 days of basic training plus optional 15 days advanced training, a Rs 15,000 toolkit grant as e-voucher, and collateral-free credit support of up to Rs 3 lakh at a concessional interest rate of 5 percent.
PM Vishwakarma Loan Details: Two Tranches at 5% Interest
The credit support under PM Vishwakarma is provided in two tranches without any collateral requirement. The first tranche offers up to Rs 1 lakh with a maximum repayment tenure of 18 months. After successful repayment of the first tranche, the beneficiary becomes eligible for a second tranche of up to Rs 2 lakh with a repayment tenure of 30 months. The concessional interest rate is fixed at 5 percent per annum, with the Government of India providing an interest subvention of up to 8 percent to banks. This makes the PM Vishwakarma loan one of the most affordable credit options available to artisans in India.
PM Vishwakarma Statistics 2026: Impressive Reach

The scheme is being implemented across all states and union territories through a network of Common Service Centres, banks, and district implementing agencies.
